Biography: Gemma Jones trained at RADA where she won the Gold Medal in 1962. Among her many theatrical credits are Hamlet at the Birmingham Rep, A Midsummer Night’s Dream R.S.C. World Tour, A Streetcar Named Desire at the Nottingham Playhouse, Much Ado About Nothing at the Chichester Festival, Breaking the Silence at the Mermaid Theatre, After Aida at the Old Vic, and Ride Down Mount Morgan at the Wyndhams Theatre. She has also worked at the Donmar Warehouse, toured England and India with the Cambridge Theatre Company, appeared at the Crucible, Sheffield and the National Theatre. On television she has appeared in, amongst others, the Ruth Rendell mystery Devices and Desires, Inspector Morse, The Storyteller, (Jim Henson), The Spoils of Poynton and Chelworth. She played the eponymous heroine Louise Trotter in Duchess of Duke Street and Emma Thomson’s mother in Ang Lees film of Sense & Sensibility.
