Biography: Nichola McAuliffe has worked extensively in television, radio and on stage.
Her West End appearances include Greg Dorian's production of Black Comedy and Real Inspector Hound, Peter Hall's Wild Duck for which she won The Manchester Evening News Award, Hobson 's Choice playing Maggie Hobson opposite Leo McKern, Queen Victoria in the RSC's Poppy for which she won The Clarence Derwent Award, Mrs Allonby in the RSC's A Woman of No Importance, and Kate in the RSC's Kiss me Kate for which she won an Olivier award.
Other theatre includes: Portia, Merchant of Venice and Katharine, Taming of the Shrew for Jude Kelly at West Yorkshire Playhouse, Kingdom of Earth directed by Sir Kenneth MacMillan for Hampstead Theatre, Playboy of the Western World, Lyndsay Anderson and The Heiress opposite Alec McCowan at Chichester, and later with Frank Finlay.
She has performed in two one person plays: Annie Wobbler, written for her and directed by Arnold Wesker (Birmingham and Fortune Theatre), and Goliath by Bryony Lavery, for which she received several award nominations.
On television she is best known as Sheila Sabatini from seven series of ITV's Surgical Spirit. Nichola has also appeared in several operas and played Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus for the new Carl Rosa Company.
Recently seen on our screens in Coronation Street, Nichola is currently appearing in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as Baroness Bombast at the London Palladium.
