After Dinner Speaker Biography: Wesley is well-known to viewers in the Midlands, Thames Valley and north Hampshire as the presenter of the ITV nightly news programme, "Thames Valley Tonight". Before joining Thames Valley Tonight, Wesley presented Central News on ITV1 for nearly eighteen years in Oxfordshire. He�s reported on all the major stories in the area over that time and interviewed countless well-known faces. Over the past twelve months, Wes has reported from Seattle on the launch of Boeing�s Dreamliner jet, he broadcast live across the week on the region�s summer floods and even took on the challenge of learning to drive a bus! Wes is a versatile presenter and has fronted the weekly political programme, Central Lobby, from Westminster and the current affairs show, Central Extra as well as many special outside broadcasts. Wes�s most proud claim-to-fame? Appearing in the final episode of "Inspector Morse. On the lighter side, Wes took to the stage as a John Travolta look-alike, a bingo-caller and even a butler for the day. Wes even had a band named after him, "Wesley Smith is Cool"! Wes is also a shameless TV anorak and could probably tell you anything you ever wanted to know about the history of TV in this or any other region. He was the regular presenter at IBC, the international broadcasting convention in Amsterdam for three years. He is also a bus enthusiast and is often seen at the Oxford Bus Museum which he reopened after a major refurbishment. Wes was born in and spent his childhood in the North-West. He became an ITV News Trainee in 1985 upon graduating from Birmingham University. He lives in Oxford and is a Gemini who loves good food, travel and classic cinema.
