Biography:

Clare Short was born in Birmingham on 15 February 1946. She was educated at St Paul's Grammar School, Birmingham, and at the Universities of Keele and Leeds. She graduated as Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Political Science.


Clare has been the Labour Member of Parliament for Birmingham Ladywood since 1983 and was Secretary of State for International Development before resigning from the government over Britain’s entry into the Iraq war in 2002.  Clare holds beliefs passionately and is known in parliament for her intelligent but humorous approach to the business of politics.  She is credited with saying ‘Most of us women like men, you know; it's just that we find them a constant’ disappointment." However, we are sure you find nothing disappointing about ‘An Audience With Clare Short’.
