Biography: Fred has made guest appearances on many television panel shows, most notably four times each on ‘HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU’ and ‘THEY THINK IT’S ALL OVER.
In addition to co-hosting the hugely popular ‘MCCOIST AND MACAULAY’, Fred has appeared in more than ten successful series on television in Scotland and the U.K.
Fred has presented BBC1’s Hogmanay Show with Carol Smillie and co-presented “2000 Today” the BBC’s marathon Millennium broadcast.
He has hosted BBC Scotland’s radio morning show since June 1997, has been a regular guest on the prestigious Radio 4 production “The Newsquiz” as well as other Radio 4 productions including “Just A Minute” and “I’m Sorry, I Haven’t A Clue”
Fred has performed at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe since 1990, either in his own one-man shows or presenting his radio show from The Famous Spiegeltent or presenting three one-hour long chat shows for Scottish Television and Grampian in 2003 and 2004.
He is a graduate of Dundee University. He was the rector there for a three year term until Feb 2004.
