Biography:

Jenny Agutter joined the National Theatre in 1973 to play Miranda in The Tempest. Her later stage roles include Regan in King Lear for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1982-3, when she also played in Bond's Lear, and in Arden of Faversham. In 1985 she played Polya in 'Breaking the Silence' for the RSC, and in 1988 she appeared in 'Breaking the Code' in New York. She has rejoined the RSC at the Barbican and is played the Princess in the world tour of 'Love's Labour's Lost'. Her best remembered film was 'The Railway Children', she won an Emmy award for 'The Snow Goose', and a British Academy award for 'Equus'. Other films include 'Walkabout', 'Logan's Run', 'An American Werewolf in London' and 'Sweet William'. She appeared in in the BBC television serial, 'The Buccaneers' and in 2000 she appeared in a new version of 'The Railway Children', this time in the grown-up role of Mother.


She was most recently seen on our screens in BBC 1’s ‘Spooks’.
