Biography: John Cole is best known for his work as Political Editor of the BBC between 1981 and 1992, and for the broadcasting and writing he has done since, including writing his bestselling political memoirs, ‘As It Seemed To Me’.

His career stretches back half a century. Born in Belfast, he worked for eleven years on the Belfast Telegraph. Moving to England, he joined The Guardian before moving to The Observer, where he was deputy editor for six years.

He and his wife live in Surrey, and have four sons, four grand-daughters and three grandsons and also does after dinner and corporate speaking.
