Barry Norman at Cheltenham Film Festival

Veteran film critic Barry Norman has a wealth of fascinating tales to tell about the movies he loves and the stars he’s met. So, if you enjoy all things cinema, your in for a treat when he visits the Cheltenham Film Festival this week.
He will be presenting his favourite movie clips and chatting about his career during An Evening With Barry Norman which plays Cheltenham’s Parabola Arts Centre as part of the festival on Friday November 4.
You might make some intriguing discoveries about Barry who became a household name fronting the BBC’s Film programme for 26 years.
For instance did you know that he never uttered the immortal words that became his catchphrase? He swears that not once did he say: “...and why not?” even though he later used it as the title of his autobiography. The phrase it seems was actually invented by impressionist Rory Bremner. Initially Barry shrugged it off but soon realised that he was saddled with it forever so he might as well capitalise on it...and why not?
An Evening With Barry Norman is at the Parabola Arts Centre in Cheltenham on Friday November 4. Call the Box Office on 01242 707338 Website: www.parabolaartscentre.co.uk
