Robert Powell hosts dementia charity fundraiser

Star of stage and screen Robert Powell will be hosting a charity fundraiser at The Monastery in Manchester on Friday (November 4) in aid of a specialist exercise and rehabilitation centre for dementia suffers
Robert, a regular with Clive Conway Celebrity Productions, is among a host of celebrities and sports and business leaders who are backing the project set up by social and community care provider CIC.
The Jesus of Nazereth and Holby City star will host a Masquerade Auction and Ball in support of the new service which is due to open in the Blackley area of Manchester next spring.
Salford born Robert Powell said "I am looking forward to being involved in a fundraising event for such an important project. Dementia is a condition that will probably touch all our lives eventually and it is hard to think of an enterprise more deserving of our help. Added to which it gives me an excuse (as if any were needed) to return to my roots in Manchester."
Tickets for the Fundraiser, including a three course meal, cost £75. For more information call 0151 422 5374 or email john.hughes@c-i-c.co.uk
Meanwhile Robert will be back in action with Clive Conway Celebrity Productions on November 20 .
Together with actress Elizabeth Garvie, he appears at The Little Theatre in Leicester in Silver Screen - an affectionate and nostalgic romp through the first hundred or so years of cinema.
Starting with the Lumiere Brothers in Paris in 1895 and ending with ‘BOND 22’ at Pinewood Studios in 2008, it visits Charlie Chaplin, Mae West, Mickey Mouse, Humphrey Bogart, Clark Gable, Groucho Marx and many, many others along the way.
The journey is accompanied by musical interludes from Scott Joplin, George Gershwin and others right through to John Barry’s ‘James Bond’ Theme. The show also plays The Congress Theatre in Eastbourne on December 19.
