THE well known comedian and impressionist, Alistair McGowan, together with Charlotte Page, are coming to The Players Theatre to perform their piece about Noel Coward called Sincerely
Noel. This is the latest in the productions from Clive Conway and is sure to be a sellout, so book early.
Sincerely Noel offers a vibrant, personal selection of Noёl Coward’s well- known (and many of his lesser-known) songs and verse which will provide laughs a-plenty and possibly prompt a few tears as well. Alistair McGowan and Charlotte Page (one of the country’s most versatile sopranos) are taking their much lauded show on tour at last after a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival in 2009 and two runs at The Riverside Studios in Hammersmith, which thrilled Coward aficionados and Coward virgins alike!
Many of the dramatised verses (include the staggering Not Yet the Dodo) are being performed for the first time and the songs (from Never Again to If Love Were All) have been freshened up by Warren Wills’ new arrangements. Gyles Brandreth said of the show that it is “Romantic, poignant, painful and funny. All one would expect from Coward and much that one wouldn’t”
Directed by Brendan O'Hea and accompanied by piano, the show opens with several of the impersonations for which McGowan is so well known, then moves swiftly into the flow of the evening with the pair splitting lines of dialogue and songs between them as well as each working solo. Together they whirl through these insights into the lives of both everyday people and the upper classes with many tales of the endless capacity of love to confuse, wound, amuse and capture hearts and minds alike.
The show starts at 7.45pm on Friday 11th November. Tickets cost £14 and £12 and are on sale now from Tickets Anywhere, telephone 01844 21722
