Description: Author, Colin Dexter, will talk about his creation, Inspector Morse. He will explain how Morse was adapted for TV and tell us what John Thaw was really like as well as talking about his own walk-on parts in each episode of the acclaimed drama. Oxford resident and hugely popular writer of the Inspector Morse novels. In ‘From Books to Box’ Colin talks about the mammoth challenge of transforming a full-length novel in to a 90-minute screen drama.

The first Inspector Morse novel - Last Bus To Woodstock - was published in 1975 as a result of a wet and windy family holiday in North Wales. 13 novels later, the last instalment - The Remorseful Day - was published in 1999.

A highly acclaimed writer, Colin Dexter has been the recipient of many awards for his work, including the Crime Writer’s Association Gold and Silver Dagger awards, and a special Cartier Diamond Dagger award for outstanding services to crime literature in 1997, and in 2000 Colin was awarded the Order of The British Empire for services to literature.
