Roy Sydney George Hattersley, Baron Hattersley
One of the most prolific writers in Britain, Roy Hattersley was a Guardian columnist for 27 years and writes regularly for The Times. Author of twenty-three books, including The Edwardians, Borrowed Time, The Story of Britain between The Wars and Buster’s Diaries. He travelled round the country for a column for The Daily Mail, which, plus writings about England from over the last forty years, composed his book In Search of England. He has just published a biography of Lloyd George, The Great Outsider. A former Cabinet minister and Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, he stood down in 1997 and was made a peer. He now concentrates on his writing. A popular speaker, Roy Hattersley is a regular at literary events and a favourite with audiences.
