Biography:

Libby, Paul Heiney and their children live in Suffolk, and their last home, an organic farm, was the basis for Libby’s recent novel, HOME LEAVE. Libby is now a major columnist for the Times and has presented Midweek on BBC Radio 4 for many years. She also presents The Learning Curve on Radio 4. Previous to this, she was the youngest presenter of the Today programme, and edited Tatler briefly. Her father was a British diplomat and as a family they travelled extensively. Libby went to Oxford University where she attained a First Class English Degree. She has written several non-fiction books, including the How Not To Be … series, and five novels, CASTING OFF, LONG WALK IN WINTERTIME, HOME LEAVE, MORE LIVES THAN ONE, REGATTA, PASSING GO, A FREE WOMAN and MOTHER COUNTRY. More recently she has also completed two memoirs called HOLY SMOKE and RADIO: A TRUE LOVE STORY. In 2000, Hodder also published NATURE’S MASTERPIECE, a wholly individual and humorous look at family life and all that it entails.

Libby Purves’ latest novel, MOTHER COUNTRY, was published in paperback in the spring of 2003. CONTINENTAL DRIFT was published in hardback in August 2003 in hardcover and the paperback will come in the spring of 2004.
